Important COVID-19 School-Related Closure Updates

On March 16, BCPSS sent employees a FAQ that can be viewed here. The BTU also confirmed with City Schools that if school closure is extended beyond these two weeks, BTU permanent employees (from the teacher and PSRP chapters, 10 month and 12 month) will continue to be paid their regular salaries. We are still working on securing payment for our PSRP long-term substitutes who typically receive payment only for days spent working in a school. With this unprecedented emergency we stand in solidarity with this important group of educators and continue to fight for their economic security.

No new details or plans have been released regarding Spring Break. BCPSS continues to seek guidance from the Maryland State Department of Education. BCPSS is moving forward with their plans to shift the official Spring Break to next week, however the school system acknowledges that there is a possibility that school closure will extend through and perhaps beyond the originally scheduled Spring Break dates.
