BTU Endorsement Process 2025-2026
In order to earn the BTU Endorsement, candidates for Board of School Commissioners must complete all four items listed below. All other candidates must complete items 1-3. BTU’s endorsement vote will occur by March 12, 2026. Please email cope@baltu.org with any questions or call/text 443-416-7449.
- Notification to BTU Candidates must email cope@baltu.org to notify us that you are running for election and seeking the BTU endorsement. The email should include:
- Candidate name and office sought
- Phone number and email address for campaign points of contact
- Acknowledgement that you have received and reviewed the BTU Endorsement Process Guidelines
- Candidate Interviews: School Board, Governor, State Legislature Candidates must attend a 15 minute candidate interview with BTU COPE. Interviews will be held weekly on Wednesdays between 6pm-6:45pm between October 1, 2025 and December 3, 2025. Candidates are encouraged to schedule their interviews no later than Wednesday September 17, 2025. Candidates are not guaranteed an interview opportunity if it’s not scheduled by September 17, 2025. - Candidate Questionnaire The BTU Candidate Questionnaire is available here. Candidates must complete the Candidate Questionnaire by December 31, 2025.
- Candidate forum: School Board Only Candidates for Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners seeking the BTU endorsement must attend a virtual candidate forum in January hosted by the BTU Committee on Political Education.
