BTU MEMBERS: PARTICIPATE IN YOUR SCHOOL’S BUDGET PROCESS FOR SY 24-25
INCREASE THE RESOURCES & STAFFING STRUCTURES YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Planning for your school’s 2024-2025 budget has begun! Teacher Chapter members and PSRP Chapter members have an important role to play in setting budget priorities for your school. Does your principal share budget plans with you? Does your school have appropriate staffing? Are you provided with the materials you need to do your job? Would students benefit from additional or different programming?
For too long, the budget process at many schools has been opaque or closed altogether, with required budget meetings occurring without notice. School Family and Community Councils have not always operated with fidelity with their established processes. BTU is intensifying our support for BTU members to participate in these meetings and grow school-based union power. We will continue to press the district’s finance and human capital teams to provide more access and budgetary resources.

Read more about the budget process here. This is the first round of meetings, and BTU will continue to provide updates and tools to participate as the process unfolds.
