MSDE Listening Session on ESSA

The State Board of Education needs to hear from YOU!

Members of the Maryland State Board of Education say they want to use the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to turn failing schools into unaccountable charters. This would create a new school system where teachers and staff would no longer be protected under the collective bargaining agreement.

This type of plan hasn’t worked in New Orleans, or in any other state, yet Gov. Hogan’s appointees want to bring that system to Maryland.
