Religious Holiday Leave

During last school year BTU fought for and won additional protections for members who require additional religious leave. Previously, members had two days of religious leave, along with the four personal days of leave allotted each year (three of which use sick leave). District leadership had long rejected BTU efforts for members to be able to use accumulated sick leave for religious observance so that they were not forced to take unpaid days of leave. Fortunately, with our new agreement this should change.

Bargaining unit members who anticipate exhausting their paid leave for religious observance may submit a request by the first day of school for students through the existing EEO accommodations process for consideration of additional paid leave. To assist with this process, the BTU has created this form, which can be accessed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gqxE1sfGW3wdCE766k-gguxFavBsuhsjEDH-autO2Mo/copy.

Please follow the directions on the form linked above. You must
send this request by the first day of school for students, and BTU strongly recommends that you submit this request as soon as you are able, and no later than Wednesday, August 21.
