Seeking Teachers for theAFT/BTU Teacher Leaders Program
At an incredibly increasing rate, each media outlet is reporting on issues concerning students, teaching and learning. How often have you asked yourself or said to your colleagues, “Why don’t they just ask a real teacher about (you fill in the blank)?” The Teacher Leaders Program is a union sponsored program designed to help prepare YOU to be that classroom teacher, advocating for and facilitating discussions about policies and issues that affect our profession both here in Baltimore and nationally.
We are seeking teachers interested in conducting research and collaborating with colleagues across the city and nation on:
- Increasing an understanding of the major challenges facing the teaching profession and what to do about them
- Improving leadership skills
- Representing our profession as spokespersons and /or presenters
- Becoming members of an influential and supportive network of educators who advocate for improved outcomes for all students and teachers
The program sessions will take place at:

Baltimore, MD 21215
***As this is a grant funded program, a stipend only will be awarded after successful completion of the program.
