The theme of this issue is “Growing Our Hive”. In this issue we explore ways in which BTU members are working to grow our union’s capacity through collective action and coalition-building.
President Brown shares an update on the work of the BTU-led Right to Strike coalition and parent Rodney Houston makes the case for how giving school employees and library workers the right to strike will lead to improved outcomes for students. Robin Bingham describes the struggles of Fine and Performing Arts teachers and a rank and file led effort to organize this often isolated category of educators. The PSRP Update reports back on this year’s PSRP Conference and other events and activities to build up the chapter.
