The new issue of the Baltimore Educator (BTU’s newsletter/magazine) is now available online!
The theme of this issue is “It’s Showtime!”. In this issue we shine a spotlight on the many ways in which BTU members are showing up to make their voices heard and support each other.
President Brown discusses the tentative teacher chapter contract and how the mass mobilization of BTU members forced the District to keep its #HandsOffOurHealthcare. Robin Bingham provides an update on rank and file organizing efforts by Fine and Performing Arts teachers. Patrice Pilgrim-Wright reports on this year’s AFT National Convention where BTU delegates showed up and spoke out for union democracy on the national stage. The Member Spotlight profiles a teacher and a PSRP who show up for their students and coworkers every day in ways that deserve a standing ovation. And a student overcomes her stage fright to share her candid thoughts about teachers and school/District leadership.
All this is in addition to our PSRP Update, Know Your Contract, Member Shout-Outs, the Events Calendar, and a letter to the editor. So sit back and enjoy this issue. It’s showtime!
The next issue will come out in January 2027. Email mpesa@baltu.org by December 18th if you would like to submit something.
