This past Tuesday, Building Representatives received a chance to see the district’s changes to the policy on unannounced formal observations, GCO-RD. They, along with Delegate Cheryl Glenn, who was visiting with members, raised vocal concerns about the impact this would have on schools.
The following day, President Brown sent a letter to the District requesting that the Board schedule a Public Board Work Session, before the school board votes on the policy at 2nd Reader on August 27th. President Brown called for a more in-depth discussion about Policy GCO. Today, our voices were heard as she received word that the Board has scheduled a Public Board Work Session for Thursday, August 15th!
We need as many teachers as possible to attend this meeting to share your concerns about Policy GCO so the District understands how implementing this policy will impact the classroom learning environment.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, August 15th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at District Headquarters, 200 E. North Avenue, 21202, in the 1st Floor Board Room.
